BURBERRY

BURBERRY SURROUNDINGS

This September I visited the Burberry Makers House exhibition.

This was an amazing experience, I loved every part of it, apart from the over priced Jammy Dodgers!

The exhibition was fully immersive, using the space to its full potential.
There were Burberry scents, mood lighting and overwhelming wall features left right and centre.

Everywhere you looked was Burberry.

The exhibition was all about celebrating the craftsmanship behind the brand. They achieved this by allowing us to 'meet the makers' with workshops including my favourite, calligraphy.

The walls and tables were covered in fabrics, tools and artwork. They were lit with spotlights which really made them stand out and feel special.

The whole atmosphere of the space was quite mysterious. The techniques of lighting helped achieve this. For example darkness in parts to bring all attention to one thing in the centre of a room.

The exhibition also showcased the SS17 collection. This collection stood out to me as the garments were not gender specific which is a element to take on. The garments were part of the 'see now buy now' scheme which combined fast fashion with luxury couture.

If you wanted to purchase a garment you could go straight from the exhibition to the store in a private car waiting outside for you. Unfortunately, being a poor student who cant decide whether to pay that extra 10p for a carrier bag in Tesco, this wasn't the case for me...

Below you can see some more of the photos I took whilst visiting this exhibition.
