BLACKSEAL // FIRETRAP

Firetrap have released a new line called Blackseal, ranging from coats to shirts to shoes to accessories .

I managed to get my hands on the Khaki Bomber.

Now down from £100 to only £40 this sleek, high quality wardrobe essential is a steal.

This jacket is perfect for winter and summer as it can be warn with just a t-shirt or even a hoodie underneath.

The detail in the jacket is high quality and gives the jacket that 'Blackseal' look.

It has a total of 5 pockets, inside and out, meaning you wont be short of places to put your belongings.

This is my first piece of Firetrap clothing and definitely not the last!

ETHICS AND SUSTAINABILITY

"sustainable fashion, also called eco fashion, is a part of the growing design philosophy and trend of sustainability, the goal of which is to create a system which can be supported indefinitely in terms of human impact on the environment and social responsibility."

Stella McCartney has a good reputation for how ethical her brand is, and how sustainable it is. From designing pieces that wont go to landfills, to not using real fur or leather.

In my opinion, i think it is really good that such a big name is making an effort like this as smaller brands may want to follow in her footsteps, creating a domino effect of ethical brands.

FRAY LONDON SHOOT

FRAY LONDON SHOOT

Recently I have been working closely with a Brand called Fray London.
They are a small company selling hats with embroidery of their logo. Along with the choice of having the hat 'Frayed' for style.

The fraying is hand made by the owner Scott Donovan. It really gives the hat that extra texture.

JEFF KOONS | NOW

JEFF KOONS | NOW

This exhibition took place in Newport Street Gallery. I found the exhibition had quite a meditative feel to it in terms of the layout. Everything around me had been painted white, which made your mind feel clean and relaxed however it was a clever technique as it drew all attention to the artwork.
The fact that everything around you was so plain and white exaggerated the fact that the artwork was so vibrant, peculiar, exciting and interesting.
The exhibition featured artwork that had a been made to look as if they were inflatable but in fact were actually made out of solid metal, then painted.

FASHION MARKET LEVELS

FASHION MARKET LEVELS

Fashion marketing manages the process from designer, to distribution to the end result.

Fashion is divided into divisions with a hierarchy that creates consumer and brand constructions.

EMERGING MARKETS & TRENDS

THE DIGITAL AGE

Emerging markets are always going in and out of fashion.
In the first decade of the 21st century, the term BRIC (for Brazil, Russia, India and China) was coined by Jim O'Neill. When the economies of the rich world descended in 2008, emerging markets were the best aim for the future.

Sao Paolo is an area which has become an emerging market. In 1996, the
fashion event in Sao Paulo had its first edition under the name Morumbi Fashion Brasil.

It was organized by businessman and promoter of events Paulo Borges in Sao Paulo's Ibirapuera Park. During that time, international brands such as Chanel, Versace and Gucci started to open up stores in Brazil. This brought a significant change to the country's textile industry.

DESIGNER CLUSTERING

DESIGNER CLUSTERING

If you have ever been shopping in London then you most definitely have been to Selfridges, Harrods or Carnaby Street.

What you may have noticed is that when in these destinations you are only a couple of steps away from one brand to the next. This is known as clustering.

BURBERRY

BURBERRY SURROUNDINGS

This September I visited the Burberry Makers House exhibition.

This was an amazing experience, I loved every part of it, apart from the over priced Jammy Dodgers!

The exhibition was fully immersive, using the space to its full potential.
There were Burberry scents, mood lighting and overwhelming wall features left right and centre.

IDENTIFY YOUR TRIBE

IDENTIFY YOUR TRIBE

Starting university has given me the opportunity to live by myself, focus on myself, and find out who I truly feel I am.

We all fit into small groups, whether we like to think we are each individual or not, we all have some sort of connection to a certain 'tribe'.

The website uktribes.com allows you to take a simple yet interesting short quiz that helps you to determine which 'tribe' you fit into.

After completing the quiz myself, I found that I fit into the 'Trendie Tribe'

This is what UK tribes has to say about me:

Tom Ford or Tom Fraud

In my opinion, fashion is the most repetitive industry, in order to be 'in fashion' you need to copy someone or something. Even those who think they have set a new trend have probably got some kind of inspiration somewhere, somehow.

I once heard someone say 'All designs are derivatives of something you have subconsciously seen'. Tom Ford may have taken this too far with his 'Numéro Russia' campaign.

The photograph that Tom Ford used features Pat Cleveland straddling Conrad Bromfield, who is on his hands and knees. This image is incredibly similar to Marko Kalfa's photo from 2012.

Below are the two photo's
